Criteria used to define faculty, staff and alumni
People who fit in one or
more of the following groups will be included in the University of Illinois’
campus count of faculty, staff and alumni awards and honors.
- Faculty is defined as Assistant,
Associate or Full Professor.
- Staff is defined as a person
holding a position at the University
of Illinois.
- Alumni are defined as people who
attended or graduated from the University
of Illinois.
- Those who were awarded the honor while on the faculty or staff at Illinois, even if
they are now affiliated with other institutions
- Those who won for work they did while on the faculty or staff at Illinois, even if
they are now affiliated with other institutions
- Visiting Professors, Research Associates and Post
doctorates who studied and worked at
Illinois for at least two years,
even if they are now affiliated with other institutions
- Illinois Alumni who won
- University High alumni who won*
*University High alumni will be listed on the award
information sheet, but not included in the campus total. Instead, when speaking, they should be
included with language along the following lines: “Our faculty, staff and
alumni have won ___ (name of award), and alumni of our
laboratory high school have won ____ (name of award).”
